पीपुल्स मिशन प्रथम क्रांतिकारी साथी शिव वर्मा पुरस्कार -2020 की घोषणा हो गयी है। 15 अगस्त को निर्णायक समिति ने अपने फ़ैसले का ऐलान कर दिया। प्रिंट, इलेक्ट्रानिक और सोशल मीडिया पर सक्रिय मीडियाकर्मियों को विभिन्न श्रेणियों में इस पुरस्कार के तहत शहीद-ए-आज़म भगत सिंह की आवक्ष प्रतिमा, शॉल और पेन के साथ दस हज़ार रुपये पुरस्कार स्वरूप दिये जायेंगे। प्रथम शिव वर्मा पुरस्कार सम्मान पाने वालों में सोशल मीडिया पर लगातार सरकारी योजनाओं की तथ्यपरक पड़ताल करने वाले गिरीश मालवीय भी शामिल हैं। उन्हें कोविड 19 पर, खास तौर से माइक्रोसॉफ़्ट मालिक बिल गेट्स व विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन के कथित गठजोड़ पर लगातार रहस्योद्घाटन करने के लिए यह पुरस्कार दिया गया है।
पीपुल्स मिशन द्वारा स्थापित ये मीडिया पुरस्कार शहीदे आज़म भगत सिंह के निकट सहयोगी शिव वर्मा की याद में स्थापित किया गया है। शिव वर्मा को काला पानी में आजीवन कारावास की सज़ा हुई थी। मशहूर पत्रकार रामशरण जोशी की अध्यक्षता में गठित निर्णायक समिति ने जिन पत्रकारों का चयन किया है, उनके नाम नीचे दिये जा रहे हैं।

Com. Shiv Verma (1904–1997) was an associate of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.The British rulers had sentenced him to ‘ Kaalaa Paani ‘ in Lahore Conspiracy Case-2 and lodged in the infamous Cellular Jail of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
He was the last revolutionary of India’s protracted freedom fight to come out alive from that jail without succumbing to the torture of the British throne’s colossal colonial powers to tender an apology.
The Rashtriy Swayamsevak Sangha ( RSS)only ‘ poster boy ‘ to claim its representation in the freedom fight-Vinayak Savarkar – was also sent to the cellular jail.
That ‘ veer ‘ , however , had tendered a couple of written apology to come out of that.

People’s Mission’s Memorandum of Association ( MoA) is based partially on the Safdar Hashmi Memorial Trust
( SAHMAT ) ‘ constitution ‘ and MoA of the News Agency company of the United News of India (UNI ) , formulated by a team constituted by the West Bengal Chief Minister Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy at behest of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to ensure free flow of news to newspapers in free India.

The awards presentation session will be organised in New Delhi when the lock down ,enforced by the Government of India to tackle the Corona epidemic, is over or relaxed.
Prize
A bronze bust of Shaheed Bhagat Singh , traditional shawl and pen will be presented to every awardee with a token amount of INR 10 thousand only.

The last date for sending nominations was extended up to 13 Augustmidnight.
Nominations were to be based on the work done in the year 2020. Nominee’s full name, age, contact address and mail ID was mandatory requisite in the nominations.
People of India were allowed to submit maximum one nomination in each of the categories. They were also expected to write few lines as a basis for nomination.
The People’s Mission office sent nominations list to the jury for final decision only after obtaining consent of those who were nominated. In some cases this norm was exempted because of difficulty to find out exact details of the nominees immediately.
Alltogether 1281 nominations were received of which most were kept our of the shortlitisting process due to incomplete details.
