वर्कर्स यूनिटी हेल्पलाइन से जुड़े लोगों को पिछले दिनों अज्ञात नंबरों से कई फ़ोन आए। फ़ोन करने वालों ने खुद को दिल्ली पुलिस के सीआईडी और स्पेशल ब्रांच से जुड़ा होना बताया। इस संबंध में कई फ़ोन कॉल्स आने के बाद इसकी लिखित शिकायत डीसीपी, पूर्वी दिल्ली और डीसीपी, विजिलेंस, दिल्ली पुलिस को भेज दी गई है। इसके अलावा दिल्ली के मुख्यमंत्री, दिल्ली के उप मुख्यमंत्री समेत दिल्ली के कई प्रतिनिधियों को भी इसके संज्ञान में लाया गया है।
17 अप्रैल को वर्कर्स यूनिटी से जुड़े तीन सदस्यों को कॉल आए। पहले कॉल में एक महिला थी जिसने खुद दिल्ली पुलिस के सीआईडी विभाग से बताया और अन्य सदस्यों की जानकारी मांगी। दीपाली नाम की इस महिला का कहना था कि ‘दिल्ली में बांद्रा जैसी स्थिति न पैदा हो इसलिए दिल्ली पुलिस ये सुनिश्चित करना चाहती है कि ज़मीनी हालात क्या हैं?’ इन्होंने बाकी सदस्यों के घर का पता, और ऑफ़िस के बारे में भी पूछताछ की।
18 अप्रैल को अपना नाम सुरेश बताने वाले एक व्यक्ति का कॉल दो अन्य लोगों के पास गया। सुरेश ने खुद को दिल्ली पुलिस स्पेशल ब्रांच से जुड़ा बताया और टीम के एक सदस्य के घर भी पहुंच कर पूरी जानकारी ले गए, जैसे क्या करते हैं, कहां जाते हैं, आय का स्रोत क्या है आदि।
हालांकि ये सुनिश्चित नहीं है कि दिल्ली पुलिस से जुड़े होने का दावा करने वाले इन व्यक्तियों की पहचान असली है कि नहीं। लेकिन लॉकडाउन के दौरान पत्रकारों, सामाजिक कर्मियों और छात्रों पर जिस तरह मुकदमे दर्ज किए गए, उनकी गिरफ़्तारियां हुईं, उससे पुलिस या सरकारी मशीनरी की मंशा पर सवाल खड़े हुए हैं।
अभी तक सरकार या पुलिस की ओर से कोई आधिकारिक संदेश वर्कर्स यूनिटी को प्राप्त नहीं हुआ है इसलिए अभी कुछ भी कहना जल्दबाज़ी होगी।
लेकिन अब दिल्ली पुलिस की ज़िम्मेदारी बनती है कि वो आधिकारिक रूप से बताए कि क्या पूछताछ करने वालों का ताल्लुक उनके ही विभाग से है।
अगर है तो ग़ैरक़ानूनी रूप से जानकारी इकट्ठा क्यों की जा रही है जबकि वर्कर्स यूनिटी एक रजिस्टर्ड वेबपोर्टल है और इसकी पैरेंट संस्था को कॉमर्स मिनिस्ट्री से काम करने के लिए मंज़ूरी मिल चुकी है। मज़दूरों के हक़ में काम करने वाली संस्थाओं पर इस तरह की ग़ैरक़ानूनी कार्रवाई करने की जितनी निंदा की जाए कम है। वर्कर्स यूनिटी हेल्पलाइन अपना काम जारी रखे हुए है और सरकार के किसी भी दमनात्मक कार्यवाही का क़ानून जवाब दिया जाएगा।
वर्कर्स यूनिटी हेल्पलाइन के बारे में कुछ बातें
वर्कर्स यूनिटी एक स्वतंत्र मीडिया के उसूलों को मानने वाला वेब पोर्टल है और ज़मीनी सच्चाई दिखाने का काम करता है। कोरोना के चलते लॉकडाउन के कारण फंसे हुए मज़दूरों को मदद पहुंचाने के लिए पोर्टल से जुड़े लोगों ने 24 मार्च को एक हेल्पलाइन बनाई और मज़दूरों की मदद का काम शुरू किया। इसके लिए फंड रेज़िंग वेबसाइट मिलाप से फंड इकट्ठा किया गया और दोस्तों ने भी इसमें मदद की। इसी वजह से वर्कर्स यूनिटी हेल्पलाइन के सदस्य दिल्ली एनसीआर के साथ ही साथ देश के दूर दराज़ इलाक़ों में मज़दूरों को मदद पहुंचाने का काम कर रहे हैं।
हमने दिल्ली के अलग अलग क्षेत्रों में, हरियाणा के मानेसर, गुड़गांव, नोएडा, ग़ाज़ियाबाद में सीधे मदद पहुंचाई है। इसके लिए दिल्ली पुलिस की ओर से जारी कर्फ्यू पास भी हासिल किए गए हैं। इसके अलावा अन्य राज्यों, महाराष्ट्र के मुंबई, नागपुर, जम्मू, तमिलनाडु के चेन्नई, पश्चिम बंगाल के कोलकाता, पंजाब के लुधियाना समेत कई जगहों पर नेटवर्क के ज़रिए और पेटीएम के सहारे मदद पहुंचाई है।अबतक सैकड़ों मज़दूर परिवारों और हज़ारों मज़दूरों को वर्कर्स यूनिटी की ओर से किसी न किसी तरह की मदद पहुंचाई जा चुकी है। जिसमें क़रीब साढ़े चार लाख रुपये खर्च हुए हैं।

Sir ,
We are a registered company , which is motivated to work as media entity. We are running an online news portal namely workersunity.com since last 1 and half year. We cover issues related to workers’ lives, their working conditions and their demands for betterment of their life.
Due to all India lock down imposed vide order dated 25.03.2020 vulnerable sections of society like workers, farmers and students are facing unprecedented hardship. Considering their pathetic condition, Workers Unity have launched a worker’s helpline and mobilized funds for providing relief work to workers in distress. We are doing it physically as well as vide online transfer of money where it is possible. While discharging our social responsibility in this emergency like situation, we are strictly following rules of lock down including physical distancing etc. as framed by the government
We are of the view that no such situation arise due to distress within workers community where rules of lock down get violated.
However, we are receiving unsolicited phone calls purportedly from special branch of Delhi police. They are frequently making call on numbers given in workers help line. They are calling members to come to meet them. The act of Delhi police is against the spirit of fight against pandemic like COVID-19. Hon’ble prime minister of our country and CM of Delhi has called upon social organisations and general masses to extend their helping hand. Our efforts are in synchronization with our country’s collective efforts to contain spread of COVID-19.
At this stage I request you to direct the police officers concerned to not to hamper the spirit of help to needy and workers in distress. We have seen that Delhi police is also making great efforts in collective fight against spread of COVID-19. Our efforts are in addition to the efforts made by government agency but not in derogation of it.
